There are many ways in which you can contribute in the noble cause of saving water. You can do this from your home by minimizing your water consumption. There are several regions in our house where we can cut the water usage.

Bathroom:

It is the most likely area of water wastage by us. If water wastage can be reduced from here then it would be a great achievement in preserving water.

Leaving the tap running while you brush your teeth will cause plenty of water to get wasted. Don’t use toilet flush unnecessarily, some people use it to flush some paper or tissue, which is totally useless. A single flush let 2-5 gallons of water in drain. Put a brick or a bottle in the flush tank, so that quantity of water per flush can be reduced. Don’t spend too much time under the shower.

Kitchen:

It is the second most prone area of water wastage in our home. Dishwasher is the main reason for this wastage. You should put a plug in the sink, this is also very important for the sake of water preservation. You should also use sink waste disposal unit. The used water from the sink should be cultivated and used for the garden soil. Installing faucet aerator also helps a lot in saving water. By using aerator, a little water can do the job for washing hands, vegetables.

Laundry:

Fully loaded washing machines are also the big reason for the water wastage. You should use water smartly while washing the clothes. Separate the clothes according to the light and dark color.

Garden:

The best time of water plants is in the evening because while watering in evening the water wastage due to evaporation is minimized. Also, you should group the plants according to their watering needs, like the plants which need more water make them in separate group and make group of other plants which needs less water.
