Saving Water At Home


The easiest way of saving money is save water. If you are in a habit of not wasting water unnecessarily, then you are surely saving lots of money, which could be ruined if you were not having this habit. This habit not only saves you money, but also it plays a vital role in saving environment as well. Here are few tips which may help one in saving water at his home:

Make all your plumbing equipments and accessories to work properly. Install some accessories in your home which are meant for reducing the water usage. Installing them may cause you several bucks, but they will repay you by saving the water and its cost.

Though, tankless water heaters are little expensive, but still you should prefer them over the traditional ones. Tankless heaters heats water only when the faucet of hot water is turned on, unlike the traditional one.

You should always try your best to collect the rain water and reuse it. It is the easiest way to gather water without any trouble and power.

You should try to drink bottled water kept in fridge, rather than taking water from a tap each time when you are thirsty. Taking water from a running tap will cause plenty of water to get wasted.

An average family of four members should not consume more than 400 gallons of water in a single day. If every family start following this and avoid unnecessary water wastage then the water scarcity problem which is showing its influence these days will not be experienced at all in future.

You should install recirculation pumps at your home. This pump contains a timer and a valve that helps in keeping the hot water hotInstalling it is quite expensive, but when we see at the savings done by it by reducing the hot water cost, this installation doesn’t seem to be a bad deal.

Saving Water- Start From Home


There are many ways in which you can contribute in the noble cause of saving water. You can do this from your home by minimizing your water consumption. There are several regions in our house where we can cut the water usage. 

Bathroom:

It is the most likely area of water wastage by us. If water wastage can be reduced from here then it would be a great achievement in preserving water. 

Leaving the tap running while you brush your teeth will cause plenty of water to get wasted. Don’t use toilet flush unnecessarily, some people use it to flush some paper or tissue, which is totally useless. A single flush let 2-5 gallons of water in drain. Put a brick or a bottle in the flush tank, so that quantity of water per flush can be reduced. Don’t spend too much time under the shower. 

Kitchen:

It is the second most prone area of water wastage in our home. Dishwasher is the main reason for this wastage. You should put a plug in the sink, this is also very important for the sake of water preservation. You should also use sink waste disposal unit. The used water from the sink should be cultivated and used for the garden soil. Installing faucet aerator also helps a lot in saving water. By using aerator, a little water can do the job for washing hands, vegetables. 

Laundry:

Fully loaded washing machines are also the big reason for the water wastage. You should use water smartly while washing the clothes. Separate the clothes according to the light and dark color. 

Garden:

The best time of water plants is in the evening because while watering in evening the water wastage due to evaporation is minimized. Also, you should group the plants according to their watering needs, like the plants which need more water make them in separate group and make group of other plants which needs less water.
